Breath Alcohol Testing
A hospital emergency department study revealed that 35 percent of occupational injuries involve at-risk drinkers. These situations pose financial risks to employers and put innocent employees at risk.
The staff here at Test Smartly Labs has access to the latest tools in the industry, and we’re here to make breath alcohol screening quick and easy should an occurrence arise. We can even ensure DOT-regulated companies remain in compliance.
Breath Alcohol Screening: How It Works
The BAT screening tests used in our labs are DOT-compliant with approved devices. Before testing begins, a disposable mouthpiece is placed on the device. The test subject then blows into the device so it can calculate their blood alcohol percentage with immediate results.
Alcohol’s Impact on the Workplace
Alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream, and this works to circulate it through your entire system just as your HVAC unit circulates heat through your home. When it reaches the brain, significant loss of motor functions and reasoning skills results. This can pose a plethora of dangers, especially in safety-critical positions,
It’s not uncommon for employees to go to work still intoxicated from the night before, so it’s not something that’s always actively taking place on the job. Among the many complications that arise as a direct result of alcohol influence on the job include:
- Compromise in safety for entire staff
- Decrease in efficiency
- Attendance issues
- Decrease in quality
- Lower employee morale in general
Our equipment and experience ensure adherence to all breathalyzer guidelines, and we make it our goal to provide consistently-reliable results.
DOT Breath Alcohol Testing
There are two primary standards in DOT-required breath alcohol testing. First, devices must be NHTSA-approved. Tests must be performed by a breath alcohol technician. When you work with Test Smartly Labs, you’ll have access to both, so call today to learn more about how we can help.
